You’ve Already Tried Harder. There’s Another Way.
Try Softer: An 8-Week Group for Women
Diving deeper into Aundi Kolber’s Try Softer together, with room to actually practice it. Wake Forest and virtual groups starting September 2026.
If you’ve ever felt like:
- you’re coming apart at the seams
- your hair is on fire
- you’re pouring out and pouring out for everyone and their cat
You know what it feels like to try harder
You know how to serve, love, be there for everyone – except you. You’ve been to therapy, you put the work in and you are annoyed it only seems harder. There has got to be something better. There has got to be some kind of way to try softer.
Most of us learned to try harder.
Push through. Handle it. Keep it together, especially for everyone else. It’s a strategy that works, right up until the day it stops working, and by then it’s so automatic that stopping feels doesn’t feel at all like rest and feels a lot more like falling.
Trying softer isn’t lowering the bar. It isn’t giving up, and it isn’t the same thing as doing less. It’s learning to work with your body and your nervous system instead of bracing against them. For a lot of us, that’s a genuinely new skill, and it’s very hard to learn alone.
That’s what these eight weeks are for.
You’ll have the space to set down the incredible weight you’ve been carrying in a community of like-minded women who will lift you up. You’ll find a group where you are poured into, instead of taken from. This isn’t one more thing on your to-do list. This is real, actionable, change that leaves you different:
- Less frazzled
- More at peace
- A better mom
- A better partner
- A better friend
Without adding one more thing to a to-do list that’s already too much.

Your Try Softer Group Guide
Amanda works with women across North Carolina, and she’s spent her career sitting with people who are carrying far more than anyone around them realizes. She’s trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, DBT, and CBT, with particular focus on trauma, anxiety, and the aftermath of abuse.
What people tend to say about working with Amanda is that she creates a room where you can be exactly who you are, exactly where you are, without having to perform being further along than you actually are. Clients often share how their bodies immediately felt safe in Amanda’s presence.
Here’s what other participants in Amanda’s groups have said:
“Amanda created such a safe space to allow me to really be real…”
Amanda is leading both the Wake Forest and virtual groups this fall.

Questions People Ask
Is this therapy?
- No. This is a support and educational group, not individual or group psychotherapy. Amanda is a licensed clinician and that shapes how she facilitates, but joining this group doesn’t create a therapist-client relationship, and the group isn’t a substitute for individual care. If you’re looking for therapy, we’d genuinely love to talk with you about that separately. [Schedule a free 15-minute consultation here]
Do I need to buy the book?
- No. The book and workbook are included in your registration and we’ll get them to you before we start.
Do I need to have been through something big enough?
- There’s no threshold. Some women come in with a clear sense of what they’re working through and some just know that the way they’ve been operating isn’t sustainable. Both belong here.
I’ve never done a group before. What’s it actually like?
- You’ll never be put on the spot. Participation is invitational, and choosing to listen is a legitimate way to be in the room. Most weeks include some teaching, some discussion, and some practice, and you get to decide how much you say.
Is this a Christian group?
- Aundi Kolber writes from a Christian perspective and that’s present in the book, so it will come up. You’re welcome here whether or not you share that faith. No one will be asked to pray aloud or to talk about their beliefs.
What if I have to miss a week?
- Life happens. Missing a session won’t put you behind in a way you can’t recover from, though the group works best when you can commit to most of the eight weeks. There are no refunds for missed sessions and groups are not recorded for viewing later.
Is what I say kept private?
- Everyone agrees to confidentiality at the first session, and we take that seriously. Because this is a group setting rather than individual therapy, we’ll walk through exactly what that does and doesn’t cover before we begin.
Which group should I choose?
- If you’re near Wake Forest and Monday evenings work, the in-person group offers something the virtual one can’t quite replicate. If you’re outside the area or Wednesdays fit better, the virtual group covers the same ground with the same facilitator.
Twelve seats in Wake Forest. Twelve seats online.
We keep both groups small on purpose. Eight weeks only works if there’s actual room for everyone in the circle, and twelve is where that stops being true.
Registration is open for fall 2026.
