Faith-based Women’s Trauma Recovery Group

Women’s Faith-based Trauma Recovery Group

Online and worldwide. Heal in community, at a pace that honors your story.

Why a faith-based women’s trauma recovery group?

You’ve been through some horrible stuff. You’re on the other side, but you feel shattered and are sorting through the rubble to find some semblance of self. It feels like you’ve experienced a death, and you did. Some part of you feels like it died. And unlike other losses, no one brought you a casserole or held your hand. In fact, maybe those who should have been holding your hand and providing comfort were the ones who did the harm. You don’t even know how to make sense of it all.

And then there’s the isolation. It’s so hard to relate to folks who don’t get it. You feel like you spend the majority of your time trying to explain what it’s like for you. Half the time you don’t even understand it yourself. All you want to do is heal, not be an educator.

Trauma, and what it does to our bodies, souls, and minds, quite frankly sucks. We get it, and we want to help you recover and find community. Our faith-based women’s trauma recovery group is an online, educational support group designed to help survivors understand and process trauma.

In this group you’ll learn new skills, reinforce the ones you already have, build community, and find healing in the aftermath of devastation. And because the group meets online, you can join from anywhere in the world as long as you have WiFi.

What will I learn?

Our material breaks the trauma journey into nine steps. You’ll learn the science of trauma, trauma recovery skills, boundary setting, and tools for managing anxiety and depression. You’ll also practice these skills, so you can regain trust in your judgment and your ability to make decisions.

While you do all of that, you’ll be in community and connected to the group. Trauma happens in relationship, and it heals in relationship. We create a safe space for connection with others who truly get it.

Why a faith-based women’s trauma recovery group?

For many of our group members, faith guides their steps. We also know faith can be used to harm, and that is the case for many who attend our group. We have found that women want a space where they can bring faith into the conversation as they wrestle with what happened to them. They long for a place where they can ask questions without being spiritually bypassed. They long to grieve alongside others who understand.

We want to be that place. You don’t have to be a Christian to join, and you don’t have to know what you believe, either. We welcome you as you are. While we talk about trauma from a Christian perspective, we promise it is never trite or legalistic, and we do not minimize the spiritual abuse you may have experienced.

Who is a good fit?

This group welcomes women over 18 in most stages of recovery. We welcome survivors of violent crime, family trauma, abuse of all kinds (including spiritual abuse, since this group is not preachy and we do not spiritually bypass pain), and natural disasters.

Who is not a good fit?

Because this material can be triggering, this group is not the right fit for women who have recently exited the trauma and who struggle with emotion regulation, or for anyone experiencing active suicidal ideation. We want you to be able to engage with the material safely. If that is where you are right now, please reach out. We would be glad to help you find the right level of support first.
