You’re laying there in the middle of the night, awake. Again.
Maybe another nightmare woke you up. Maybe you never even got to sleep because you’re a bundle of nerves and your brain won’t stop churning. You roll over. You wish the thoughts would turn off. “I’m a failure. I suck. I’m unloveable. I’m broken.” Tears stream down your tired face. “I want to feel happy again, but I don’t think it’s possible,” you whisper into the darkness. You feel like relationships are hopeless. Life is hopeless. You’ve tried everything you know to make it better. “I should be past this by now,” you tell yourself. “Why can’t I just get my crap together?!”
If this is you, I’m really glad you’re here.
Therapy can help you figure out what’s keeping you stuck and help you learn the skills to move forward. If you’ve experienced traumatic events, getting support from a counselor can help you face the demons and move from merely surviving your life to fully living it.
In counseling, you’ll find a safe, comfortable space to explore the hurts & overcome them. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and trauma in Wake Forest and surrounding communities, and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) through the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP). This means I’ve gotten special training for treating people who have experienced really bad things. I’m also trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful tool that can help reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts and emotions and has been proven very effective for people who have experienced trauma. I also am trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), which teaches a set of skills that can help you manage all the overwhelming feelings, handle crises, and have meaningful, healthy relationships with others.
